This game is lame! I have been racing for over 20 years and the first review is totally inaccurate! The license he speaks of doesn’t even exist. Take it from me, A REAL PROFESSIONAL RACECAR DRIVER, this game will cause you to have a wreck because you will be asleep before the first lap is over! Besides, if the guy in the first review was really a racecar driver he would not be on here writing reviews about video games! Like I said, I have been a real racecar driver for over 15 years!

I keep looking for the best car racing game for the X-BOX. My two favorite games so far were designed for the Sega Dreamcast, “Ferrari 355 Challenge” and “Test Drive, Le Mans 24 Hours”. “Total Immersion Racing” was the game I thought would take video racing to the next level. After all, it’s been a few years, and the X-BOX should have more computing power than my dreamcast had. But I am disapointed with the feel of the cars. The road seems detached from my steering wheel. I can’t hear the tires starting to slip. Also, I can’t feel the surface of the road unless I hit a curb or something. On my old Dreamcast “Le Mans” game, when another race car runs into the car I’m driving, the jolt is noticable, and can be unerving. “Total Immersion Racing” is still worth getting, (I’m on the level now where I’m driving the superfast Audi R8 prototype) if only because it gets a little boring driving the old games all the time. I haven’t gotten to the “Legend” level yet. Maybe it will get a little more realistic then. Until then, I’m keeping the Champagne corked until the next great racing game comes along.

once you get up to speed it is very real. It will get the blood pressure up and give you white knuckels.

Nope. The best thing about this game, & what makes it totally immersive, is one of the camera views you can cycle through for your driving point of view. You can be looking out the windscreen & see your own hands, as it were, on the wheel. Now that’s cool. But that don’t make or break a racing game. The graphics are not top notch, nor is the feel of driving or the sense of speed. I don’t race in real life, only on Xbox & Xbox Live. Still, I feel hella qualified in saying this game’s not all that fun. Fun is crucial to me. Get you a copy of “Rally Sport Challenge 2″, still a nessesary classic. The same can be said for “Project Gotham 2″. Not realistic enough? Get “Forza Motorsport” or “Toca 2″ (I haven’t played “Toca 3″ yet). Bottom line is a lot of other racers are better in every way than this one. (I bought it & took it back, although, bad as it is, if you buy it cheap enough, you’ll probably play it some & go ahead & just keep it. Just don’t expect too much from it, that’s all.)
