the gameplay is completely crazy on this! players like ronaldo battle to win possession of the ball, rather than just standing around eating a kebab waiting to be passed to like the real ronaldo. also, the career mode bears absolutely no resmblance to the real thing, here’s what happensin the fifa 2005 universe. i managed celtic, who i’d stocked up with adriano, zambrotta, lampard, terry, gerrard, joaquin, buffon, shevchencko, and a few created players with overall ratings of 99%. ok, so you can stack the odds in your favour, but it won’t help you. because after all mighty dunfermline athletic comes along and beats celtic 7-0 at home, even though the celtic team you’ve got has the best players there are, and gets the highest rating of any club. the first two seasons you do alright as manager, then, it all goes pear shaped, and my celtic club finished in 4th place (that’s only happened 3 times in the last 100 years!!!!!) so, after finishing 4th the spl (inverness caledonian thistle won by the way, something that is inexplicable in it’s own right. i decided to manage barcelona, with all the barca players there, and yet another top rated team, and i brought my created players from celtic. well i got relegated!!!!! granted i did simulate some of the matches, but how can barcelona win both games against sporting gijon the spanish league champions of that year (another bit of the absurd)? anyway. don’t buy fifa 2005! it is a travesty, an insult to the beautiful game! everybody should buy pro-evolution as that actually plays well, although the players aren’t as realistic looking as on fifa. maybe though, if everybody stops buying fifa, and starts buying pro-evolution we’ll get all the good bits about fifa such as being associated with pretty much every club there is (i.e. manchester united rather than man reds). all in all a huge dissappointment, i’ll never buy a fifa game again.

Although there are a few flaws in this game, overall it is the best yet. The new first touch feature let’s you beat your oppenent almost every time.
When I first played this game my shots would never go on target, but when i figured out how to use the shot meter it was very easy.
The one major flaw in the game is that in carreer mode you cannot manage whatever team you wanted you have to manage one of the bad teams. Which takes alot of the fun out of being a manager.
But with the new and improved gameplay it is a must have. I suggest buying this game right now.

arcadey, fun, i only played the demo and it’s good. it’s worth the money. rent it and buy it now!!!!!!!! it’s really 5 starsbut i give it 4 because of the controls and stuff it’s worth the buy and a great addition to any xbox owner.

When i first started playing 2005 i really enjyed it and thought what an improvement it was from the rest of the series, but the more and more I played it, i realised that basically the game patterns are exactly the same in every game you play.
crap things about fifa 2005
1) every computer team plays the same way, ie attacks the same way and dont use different tactics from other teams
2)it is way too hard to get a long range shot or free kick on target. (ive played 15 games in career mode and still havent scored from a direct free kick or from a shot outside the 12yd box)
3) when you do get a shot on target, the goalies are way too good and generally pull off pysically impossible saves. this is even the case with keepers that are suposedly crap
4)when taking penalties, you only have three options, left, right, or middle, this means the keeper has a 33.3333% chance of saving a penalty….. ridiculous!!!
5)I find i score all my goals the same way, ie headers from a cross. Plus the strikers score all the goals rather than midfielders and defenders chipping in.
6) you cant change the home stadiums for your team in career mode, this means that EA choses a stadium for a team who’s real stadium isint in the game, and most of the time it is way off what this teams stadium is really like.
7)apart from the faces of the most famous players, there are only about 8 different ones players have. this means apart from the famous guys, all players pretty much look the same
8)controls are completely unresponsive, just like in previous fifa games
9)ai defenders back off an attacking plyer until he gets near the goal, this means you very rarely can score counter attack goals as defenders hardly ever get up field.
10)there is no clear noticable difference in the ability of players, ie defenders are as fast as attackers etc
11)Fifa euro 2004 was actually quite good, why didnt fifa just take the improvements from that game and chuck them into fifa 2004 rather than rehashing fifa 2004?
i could go on forever about how bad the gameplay is in this game
but there are things that keep me playing this game
1) ace graphics
2)Licsenced kits
3) cool presentation
4) i love the whole managemnent part of career mode, even if playing the actuall game is really frustrating and repetitive.
5) most important of all, Pro Evolution soccer isint out on xbox yet, so ive gotta play something!
a word of advice to ea sports, stop spending all your budget on presentation and advertising , and actually try to create something that resembles the most beautiful game in the world!!!!.
