When it comes down to game shows, there are so many of them that have made their way into video games on the computer, and video games systems for the past twenty years. Mostly, we’ve seen classic game shows like Family Feud, Jeopardy! and Wheel Of Fortune be the scene-stealers when it comes to video game sales. We have also seen recent shows like Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? with Jeff Foxworthy and Deal Or No Deal make it into video games for your home just recently. But, out of all the game shows, The Price Is Right has been the one constant for television that has eluded video game buyers for over 20 years. The last time the long-running CBS game show had a version was for the Commodore 64 back in the late 80’s. The show itself has made some changes into the format too with comedian Drew Carey stepping in the shadows of Bob Barker, after Barker retired from the show after 35 years. But as a new video game, does The Price Is Right make gamers want to come on down?

The Price Is Right for the Nintendo Wii, brings the long-running hit show to the hands of Wii-gamers young and old. There are so many Price Is Right games that are on here, but honestly there could’ve been a whole lot more to have been desired. The graphics bring the classic and distinctive look from Bob Barker’s era well, but you honestly don’t hear from him, or Drew Carey either. Instead you have Price’s announcer Rich Fields narrate and be your host for the Wii game. The graphics are great and bring a distinctive touch on the hit show, and the sound is great by bringing the classic theme song in full form. The Wii-mote controls are limited though to where you are doing simple things from taking a swipe of the Punch-A-Bunch board, to putting a ball in the hole on the Hole In One pricing game. Sadly, there is also a huge lack of pricing games that could’ve been used. While we have classic games like Plinko, Cliff Hangers and Flip Flop on the game, with over 70 games on the show, I really wish other great games could’ve been highlighted like Grand Game, Barker’s Bargain Bar and recent additions like More Or Less and Stack The Deck. While there are some extras you can unlock such as classic clips from the hit show, it isn’t enough to bring the gameplay to a complete buy.

All in all, with the long absence of The Price Is Right being released as a video game, I really was hoping for something completely mind-blowing to make Wii gamers really say Come On Down, and to make it up to longtime fans who’ve wanted to see a better video game version of The Price Is Right after 20 years!!! Unfortunately, what we get is a lack-luster feeling that makes Price Is Right fans feel a bit discouraged. It still shows a great feeling that longtime fans had been missing from video games for so long, but not fully what Price Is RIght fans had wished for to say come on down, too.

Gave it to my son-in -law for his birthday. Him and his boys love it. Really fun to play. The Kids love it too.

The Price is Wrong!! Having waited in anticipation for the new Wii title, “The Price is Right” by Ubisoft, I was throughly disappointed straight out of the box.

For one: it can only be played with one controller; Wouldn’t the game have been much better if all 4 controllers were used and there wasn’t a need to pass the same controller around to other players?? If the game was true to the TV game all players should have the ability to bid for the items…not just the person with the controller.

Two: The download time prior to and during the game is longer than any other wii games that I own. It has the feel and look of a PC game from 10 years ago. Maybe it would have been better then, but this is 2008 and the Wii is a new system…but the game play is slow and plodding.

Three: The graphics and look is cheesy and amateurish. I’m not a game designer, but I could have developed and designed this game alot better than the people at Ubisoft. Had I known that the game played this way for the Wii, I would have saved fifteen dollars and purchased it for my PC. Steer clear…The Price is Wrong!!

A great game for older folks in the party that might otherwise avoid the Wii.

I only played it once. Thank god I rented it. I played with one other person and no matter what we both got on stage, spun the wheel and were in the showcase showdown. The game lacks numerous features and is far from fun. I would not purchase this game ever. Take this review as a forewarning and rent the game before you purchase.
