The Godfather: Blackhand Edition expands on the calssic adventure based on the movie. This version also includes material from the original Mario Puzo novel that didn't make it into the movie. The graphics are outstanding as is the soundscore. However, I found it too slow paced, repetitive, and absolutely too violent for my taste.

Nothing about this game really stands out other than it says Godfather on the cover. Interesting to own for the novelty i guess. personally, its taking up space in my game cabinet.

I have played the xbox 360 version and the Wii version is even better!

This game is great, its very detailed, allowing you to travel to each of the five burrows of New York and deal with the five families. You can do your own thing or play the movie. Its got a lot of hours of gameplay but it is very violent. You use the wii remotes to strangle gangsters and can kill people in many different ways.

It’s criminal this game isn’t selling better. IGN rated the Wii version higher than the PS3 / 360 versions for one reason: using the Wiimote to simulate punches, strangles, swings and kicks adds more to the game. The first time I tossed someone into a furnace by swinging my arms towards the screen, I laughed while my girlfriend stared at me in disgust.
This game is far ahead of Scarface, even ahead of GTA 3. The missions are compelling, they’re all based on the movie and Marlon Brando voices the Don, but somehow Godfather seems more non-linear than any other GTA type game. The sense of freedom from being able to choose from dozens of missions at any one time, or skip all the missions and advance the game by taking over businesses and fighting rival gangs, rob a bank, pay the police to help, call in backup from your own gang… there’s just so much to do, and it’s all your choice. Being able to advance the game while not following the story is key to the sense of freedom.
The RPG aspects are also a good idea for this genre.
All in all, a great game. I’ve enjoyed it as much as Zelda.
