This is not only the best EA Sports game ever, but also the BEST sports game EVER made! Very deep and easy to control. Very life like. Madden has nothing on this gem.

Maybe this game is hit or miss, but I can’t stand it. I’m not a fan of the new controls, as I find it awkward to use both sticks at the same time. Also the slower frame rate, like in Madden, makes it look choppy, though not as much as it affected Madden. As some others have mentioned, it’s impossible to hit anyone in the game and I find it so annoying that you either use the classic controls, which don’t feel complete, or the new controls which are horrible.
The AI in this game is much better, but honestly, it even on Rookie I find myself taking 100 shots and still in close games, where the computer scores on 1/8 shots, which is ridiculous. You really have to use all of the controls, including the dekes and I can’t stand it. I can’t play the game enough to get used to a new system and wanted something more arcade-like, like NHL used to be. For those who want a sim, this might be great, but otherwise it, to be frank, sucks.
I am never going to buy anything in the NHL series again. This game is too much of a sim and, with fewer controls, even more annoying then those games that use every button. The only thing that would have been worse would have been using that useless Sixaxis feature.

Hey folks! This is an amazing game! Also here’s a link to my favorite band from the game. They’re called Jupiter One. They’re an Pop Rock Electronic band. Their music gets played throughout game. I did some searching and found their album…IT’S AMAZING!

Great game! I love playing NHL hockey more than any other sports game, and I’m not really into hockey! That’s how fun it is to fight for the puck, and score, or fight for the puck and smash a guy against the wall, which is somewhat tough to time right on EA games versus 2k games. Still I prefer this EA version over 2k’s. It’s fun, easy to pick up and play, and you can change the controls to classic or the default which uses the sticks and trigger buttons more. I prefer the classic face button setup, and I’m killing the cpu with the red wings right now. But of course the Colorado Av’s are the best lol. Plus the graphics are insane, the ice, the helmets, faces, everything is just top notch. Now, if we could get NCAA Football, March Madness and Live up to these standards. ;}

There are a lot of graphic improvements from NHL 08 to 09, however you can hardly beat the price on amazon.
